This post is not just about the best travel journal diary in India by MatrikaS Stationery. It is also the story of my love affair with this diary. which is put together so thoughtfully, that it exactly meets all my needs.
I travelled a lot in a single day during my recent 21 days Maharashtra tour in India. I was seeing several places and experiencing so many things on the same day. Even though my memory is very sharp, I always feared forgetting all these adventures. And I found that documenting everything is a big struggle.
Then I was taking notepads, papers or tissue papers from hotels and resorts to scribble out my day in short. And I also have the habit of collecting tickets as souvenirs from my trip. After seeing a pretty place or scenery I like to doodle or paint it out. But it was very hard to manage all the tickets, bits of paper with my notes and my paintings all in one place while travelling at the same time!
And that’s the reason why I started searching for a good travel journal in which I could write, doodle, paint and store all my memories. When I came across this travel journal, I immediately knew it was the perfect one for me.

Cons
- Honestly speaking I didn’t find any cons, but yeah its a bit heavy for a traveller to carry everywhere.
The cover and aesthetics
We say don’t judge a book by its cover but more than often that’s what we do. My journal has a really beautiful velvety hardbound cover with the world map stamped across it. This is what I really loved about it. But inside aesthetics are amazing too. This diary is designed in such a way that it is full of beauty and cuteness.
I know you are still not convinced, so let me just share what is inside this travel journal diary.
Travel Quotes and motivations
From the first page to the last one, this travel journal has cute messages and motivating quotes. Sometimes it even feels like this diary is a person with whom we are about to share our heart. And this person (diary) is here to cheer us every step of the way!
Travel Maps – India and the World
Inside the diary in the first few pages is the world map and a map of India too. Here you can mark your international travels as well as the homeland journeys. And honestly, this is the best part of the entire diary.
Bucket lists
Next up is a spread where you can list out 10 items from your bucket list. What I feel is that this is very less for a traveller. These 2 pages could hold 100 to 200 items from my bucket list. And that is exactly what I am going to do here.
Checklists
After bucket lists are 2 pages full of amazing already made checklists. There’s a travel checklist with all the important things that you need to take, with cute little checkboxes against them. And there’s a pre-travel checklist and a visa checklist too. And as if all these were not enough, you have more space to make your own checklists on the next few pages.
Trip Journal and Diary
After these first few pages now the real journal starts. There are these preformatted spaces (above picture) followed by some empty pages. All of them are beautifully crafted places where you can pour out your heart and write about 8 different trips. Again just 8 trips feel insufficient for me, of course, because I am a travel blogger with no fixed-job to hold me back. (not bragging, but yeah!)
Index
After enough space for 8 different trips, this travel journal has more space or area called Index. Although it is unclear what can be done here, I am will be using this place to write poetry. Or I will use it for scribbling out more places and things from my bucket list. I think this space might be for phone numbers, but nowadays we store everything on our smartphones.
Doodles and Paintings
Before every trip there are blank and empty spaces to doodle, write quotes, poetry or even paint. This is such a unique feature of this travel journal. I can paint or draw the highlights from the trip in this space. The sky is the limit to your creativity here.
Besides these, there are lots and lots of plain empty pages at the end where you can doodle to your heart’s content. I will be using some of them to paint because the paper quality looks good enough to hold my watercolours. And I may use some other pages to map out my route or to make charts of places I will be visiting.
Paper Pocket or Envelope
At the back of the journal is a large paper envelope or pocket. This is where I am going to keep all my bus and aeroplane tickets, feathers, flowers or leaves and any other loose papers which are all my souvenirs. You can even keep any of your important stuff in this pocket.
Elastic band, pen holder and bookmark ribbon
This journal diary has an elasticated band that keeps the diary tightly shut. So that no loose papers will ever fall out. The pen holder at the side secures and holds my favourite pen. And the bookmark ribbon makes it very easy to find the page that I am looking for. What more should I ask for? These three things are not a necessity but they add a charming touch to the diary as a whole. And it also shows how thoughtful the makers have been while designing this beautiful travel journal.
Go on try it out I am sure you will love this journal which is full of wanderlust and travel.
