This post has all the information about my Maharashtra tour route, costs, kilometres and places I visited while travelling within my state Maharashtra in India. After staying at home and exploring my city of Pune for the whole year of 2020, I decided to step out and explore my state of Maharashtra in 2021.

What did I see and experience
- Villages and cities: 41
- Beaches: 22
- Temples: 18
- Types of transport vehicles: 08
- Plastic water bottles used: 01
Kilometres travelled and how?
- By Public Transport: 1367 km
- By Collabs and friends: 468 km
- By hitchhiking: 292 km
- By rented bike: 58 km
- By foot: 15 km
That is a total of around 2200 km of travel in just 21 days.
That comes to an average of 105 km per day.
To be honest, even I am amazed by these statistics! And these are estimated figures I have calculated using google maps. In reality, public transport always takes painfully longer routes and stops everywhere. These increase my travel distance and travel time too.
What about safety?
They told me the world out there is very bad for a young beautiful girl. I say the world out there is extremely good and helpful for a young beautiful girl. I found a father, brother or family in everyone I met. Some people stepped out of their way for me and helped me just because I was a girl and they wanted me to be safe.
Almost everyone I met asked me the question, “Are you travelling alone?” When I said yes, they would ask it again with disbelief. In Radhanagari, I met some police officers at dinner, who after hearing my story and further travel plans asked me, “Do you know karate, taekwondo or are you carrying a gun?” I just laughed, tapped my head and said, “This is my only strength.”
The world outside is just as you believe it is. If you start with a positive mindset that all good things are going to happen, then nothing bad will happen to you. But you also have to use a fair bit of common sense and judgment to protect yourself and have a great journey as a solo female traveller.
